If you are traveling to Fort Lauderdale with your family this summer and are looking for some family friendly stops, check out these fun activities.
Is your child interested in butterflies, insects, hummingbirds and all things fluttery? If so, this is a good spot to add to your vacation activity list. Located in Coconut Creek, just 30 minutes away from Ft. Lauderdale, is Tradewinds Park. The park is full of a variety of insects and birds who are attracted to the roses, orchids, and tropical garden located in the park. It is an ideal spot for younger kids, as they can run around and chase the beautiful park residents.
EZride Surf School
If you have a little one who is interested in learning to ride the waves, this school might be a good place to start. The waves here are not typically very large, making it a good spot for a beginner to learn how to manage the water. Lifelong surfers assist children and their families in learning how to ride the waves and become comfortable in the water. Lessons often begin on the sand and move to the water after a couple of sessions. Instruction can be done individually, in a group, or as a family.
Are you looking for a unique, educational spot to take your family on vacation? Flamingo Gardens may be the destination for you. The Gardens feature over 3,000 species of plants, trees, and wildlife. Here families have the opportunity to explore various collections and sanctuaries, participate in wildlife encounters with birds, reptiles and other species. Your family can take a narrated tram ride that takes you through the park, including tropical rainforests, wetlands, as well as a jungle. In addition, there are a number of special events throughout the year including holiday light tours, garden festivals, and most importantly the Flamingo Fest that takes place in January each year.
If you are in search of an inexpensive ride to local beaches, shopping spots, restaurants or favorite attractions you and your family can jump on the Fort Lauderdale Sun Trolley. Prices range from free to 50 cents a person. There are also day passes available that allow travelers to hop on and off at various stops throughout the day.
