Best Spots for Seafood in North Carolina

Posted on 07.20.16

Best Spots for Seafood in North CarolinaIf you are traveling through North Carolina and are in search of a great seafood experience, consider dining at one of these restaurants. Each one of these spots is known for its amazing menu, friendly staff and overall inviting atmosphere.

1. The SaltBox Café: Kill Devil Hills

Located in the heart of Colington Island, this beautiful cottage-style restaurant is known for its wide array of dishes featuring local seafood, fresh meats, and produce. Head Chef Randolph Sprinkle comes to North Carolina, via New York and the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. He has traveled and cooked all over the world and brought with him the dishes that he encountered during those travels. Locals and visitors rave about the atmosphere as much as they do about the food. In particular, the oysters, crab cakes, and steamed shrimp are “must try” dishes on the menu.

2. Bull and Beggar: Asheville

Centrally located in the converted Wedge Studios Building of the River Arts District, this unique restaurant offers locals a seafood menu with European flair. High-end dishes on the menu offer guests the opportunity to try something potentially outside of their comfort zone. From grilled octopus to an amazing lobster roll, the menu begs to be sampled. If you cannot decide on one particular item, consider stopping by for their renowned raw bar happy hour. Every day from 5-6pm guests can sample the best fresh oysters, clams, and peel and eat shrimp in the region.

3. Buxton Munch Company: Buxton

If you are looking for something a little less high-end and a little more, “grab and go,” then this is the spot for you. This quirky little joint in Buxton offers a casual, laidback atmosphere, as well as some of the best seafood dishes on the coast. For seventeen years the owners have been providing locals with fresh food using only the highest quality ingredients. They pride themselves in making each dish to order and forewarn diners that they can expect a lengthy wait during peak dining hours. The menu is perfect for dining in or carry out in that they offer gourmet wraps, subs and sammies, crabby patties and some of the best fish and shrimp tacos in the area.
