Baltimore, Maryland is a colorful, culturally diverse city known for its beautiful harbor and unique museums. If you find yourself traveling east and have time to explore the city, you can find some interesting, family friendly spots.
- The National Aquarium
With a collection of more than 16,500 specimens, The National Aquarium in Baltimore is one of the city’s most-visited attractions. Visitors to the Museum can see a multi-story Atlantic coral reef, a tropical rain forest, and an open ocean shark tank, amongst other exhibits. The main aquarium lay-out makes it so that the flow of visitors moves in one direction along a designated path. The crowds make it difficult to move ahead or backtrack, as such it is suggested to allot at least 45 minutes to this part of the facility when planning your itinerary. For more information about the current displays, hours of operation, and tickets check out the website at aqua.org.
- Maryland Science Center
Considered to be a jewel of the city’s Inner Harbor, the Maryland Science Center is a must-see stop for tourists and locals alike. In addition to the science exhibits the museum is home to an IMAX movie theater and a planetarium. The IMAX is a five-story, 38-speker Theater plays an array of movies, including Hollywood feature films and music films.
